Chelsea are eyeing a summer move for Aston Villa’s rising star Morgan Rogers after a standout Premier League and Champions League season. Despite Villa's reluctance to sell, financial pressures could influence the outcome. Could Rogers be Stamford Bridge-bound?

Chelsea are setting their sights on Aston Villa midfielder Morgan Rogers for a potential summer transfer swoop, reports have revealed. The 22-year-old has been in electrifying form, contributing 8 goals and 8 assists in the Premier League this season, along with 4 Champions League goals, including a spectacular hat-trick against Celtic.

Rogers’ journey from being released by Manchester City in 2023 to becoming a first-team regular and England international is a tale of resilience and development. After a brief stint with Middlesbrough, he made a £15 million move to Villa in early 2024 and has since blossomed under Unai Emery.

Now, Chelsea chairman Todd Boehly is reportedly pushing to add more homegrown and dynamic attacking talent to the squad. However, Villa are not willing to sell, seeing Rogers as a core part of their future project. The situation could change if Villa fail to qualify for the Champions League or need to balance books due to high wages and plans to sign Marcus Rashford permanently.

Pep Guardiola, reflecting on Rogers' journey, praised his former youth player, saying:

“We saw the talent. What he’s doing at Villa is incredible. He’s become an exceptional player.”

Chelsea, currently fifth in the league, are also targeting Liam Delap and Dean Huijsen as part of their broader summer recruitment strategy.

Whether Chelsea can tempt Villa with a big offer remains uncertain, but Morgan Rogers has become one of the most in-demand young English players in the league today.
